Kristin Chevrette, RN, OCN, with McLaren Regional Medical Center, recently completed EduCare’s Breast Health Navigator Training program. She is now qualified to serve as the Oncology Nurse Navigator for Breast Services at Great Lakes Cancer Institute-McLaren. During the extensive Breast Health Navigator Training, Chevrette learned how to better educate patients about breast health issues and how to implement a complete program of education and support for women diagnosed with breast cancer. The training provided instruction on all aspects of breast health management – from community outreach programs to navigation guidelines for breast cancer patients. Also emphasized was the need for identifying barriers to patient care, monitoring the patient for psychological distress and developing survivorship programs.

Chevrette, an oncology certified nurse, has served as Breast Care Services Coordinator at Great Lakes Cancer Institute-McLaren since 2007. Great Lakes Cancer Institute- McLaren offers a comprehensive care program for breast cancer patients known as the McLaren Breast Center. Chevrette, as navigator, acts as the contact person for patients and physicians participating in the Breast Center. She is a source of information, coordinating conference times, answering questions, educating patients, and assisting with navigating through the health care system. Kristin Chevrette can be reached by calling the Great Lakes Cancer Institute-McLaren at (810) 342-3850.
